The Golf Club of Georgia is home to a Team South affiliate coached by Rob Stocke.
Rob Stocke, Director of Instruction at The Golf Club of Georgia since August, 2001, is a PGA Certified Instructor and 2012 Georgia PGA North Chapter Teacher of the Year. Rob currently works with players of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals on all major tours. Ranked #11 Best Instructor in the state of Georgia by Golf Digest, and, along with amateurs & professionals, Rob has strong following in the elite junior ranks. Students from his Elite Junior Program have won on the AJGA, NCAA, and various junior tours, with many students signing college golf scholarships. He has also been named a US Kids Top 50 Junior Instructor Honorable Mention in 2015 and 2012.
In addition to 2012 Teacher of the Year, Rob is on several National Advisory Boards/Staffs including: PGA Magazine Instruction Advisory Board, Cobra/Puma National Advisory Staff, UST Mamiya Shaft Advisory Staff, SKIN Sunscreen Brand Ambassador, Game Golf National Advisory Staff. Rob was the 2011 PGA Magazine Ambassador of the Year, served on thePGA Education Adjunct Faculty 1998-2012, 1998 Dixie Section Assistant of the Year, and was one of the first 5 PGA Professionals to be awarded Certification in Instruction. He is certified in Flightscope, Cobra, Titleist, Taylormade, and Ping fitting. Rob was a Featured Presenter at the 2004 PGA Teaching & Coaching Summit on the topic of Technology in Instruction. Rob has been appeared on CBS Evening News, The Golf Channel, USA Today, YES Network, PGA Magazine, and various other media outlets.
While Rob teaches all aspects of the game, he is very scoring oriented. His philosophy of “Teach people to play golf, don’t teach golf to people” gives students insight on how to lower their scores immediately, by learning to play the game, not play a golf swing. His use of unique practice routines, video analysis, drills, and an overall understanding of the game and how people learn, allow Robs students to improve their games quickly while enjoying the process.
Prior to joining the Golf Club of Georgia Rob taught and assisted at several prestigious clubs including: The Atlanta Athletic Club, Old Overton Club in Birmingham, AL; Johns Island Club in Vero Beach, FL; Elk River Club in Banner Elk, NC; and was an Assistant Director for Golf Digest Schools in Tarpon Springs, FL. A member of the PGA since April 1997, Rob conducts several National and State seminars concerning Teaching golf and specifically his focus and research on putting and scoring.
Rob attended college at Mississippi State University, and Millikin University, and has a degree in Creative Writing. He lives in Alpharetta, GA with his wife Christy and two sons, Hank and Noah. Rob is a motorcycle enthusiast and an avid musician, he has toured the country with various bands, and has released 2 original albums.
