Tapatio Springs Resorts located in Boerne, TX is home to a Team Southwest affiliate coached by Tom Relf. Coach Relf runs Developmental I, Developmental II, Future Stars, Pre Elite and Elite programs at this location.
Mr. Relf is a Class A, 21-year veteran of the PGA of Canada. Prior to embarking on his coaching career Mr. Relf played college golf at the University of Texas, San Antonio and played professionally on the Canadian Tour and a variety of USA mini tours along with numerous national, international and world championships as a junior golfer.
In April 2012, Relf, along with a number of other top golf coaches in the country, launched the USA Junior National Golf Team Program. This high performance coaching program will be available in regions across the USA.
Mr. Relf was also Head Coach and creator of the Mexico National Men’s and Ladies teams (2002-2011). The national team is funded by the Federation de Golf Mexico and consisted of up to twenty-four of Mexico’s top players. The Mexico National team program was created and designed by Mr. Relf to give each individual the opportunity to improve his or her performance both on and off the golf course and to successfully compete with the best amateur players in the world. A number of our athletes have continued on in their golf careers on both the LPGA Futures Tour and the LPGA Tour.
Mr. Relf is a “Master Staff Member” for the Callaway Golf Sales Company and has been named to Golf Digests Top Teachers in Texas for 2007-2009.
Relf is the creator and head coach for the “Junior Golf Academy”. This program is designed for competitive junior golfers who aspire to play college golf in the USA and dream of playing the PGA/LPGA Tour. This comprehensive program has produced in seventy-five college golf scholarships to Mr. Relf’s students! Participating students have attended from Canada, USA, Mexico, Scotland and Ireland.
Mr. Relf created a coaching manual titled “8 Points To Championship Golf”. This simple to follow manual has been embraced by numerous top amateur players and focuses not on mechanics but rather the art of scoring and taking your game from the practice area to the golf course seamlessly. Relf also has created a developmental manual specifically for coaches and teachers to deliver to their students as well as a training manual to increase new players to the game. It is available in both English and Spanish and is used throughout Mexico to train their professionals.
Relf conducts golf schools and corporate outings in Canada, the United States and Mexico to all skill levels of golfers. He as also has taught in Japan, Korea, Guam, Hawaii and Alaska for the Unites States Air Force.
In 1999 Mr. Relf was responsible for the concept, design and creation of Diamondback Golf Academy, a 54 acre state of the art training and learning center in San Antonio.
